Suillia oceana of S. innonata uit Madeira

A remarkable fly from Madeira. I am not whether it is S. oceana or S. innotata. You may even wonder whether both species are actually not one and the same species.

Acantholeria cineraria

Very special: a female Acantholeria cineraria, most likely, since it is also possible that it is a A. dentibia. I was caught in a Malaise trap in the high Alps by Ben Brugge in 1981.

Morpholeria ruficornis collected in Hilversum by de Rond

At first I believed to deal with an Acantholeria, but after careful checking it proved to be a Morpholeria ruficornis. This species was just known from Zuid Limburg.

Weird fly from Yemen

If looking quickly to the costa you may think it is a Heleomyzidae, which has been caught in a malaise trap in Yemen. But it is not. I think it is likely a Ephydridae with spiny coast

Sarcophagidae from Riyadh

Some years ago I visited Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I collected only very few flies. In my hotelroom I noticed some Sarcophagids. Years later I found out that the specimens most likely belong to Sarcophaga ruficornis, a species wellknown in Asia with some findings in Africa as well.

I collected this fly on old dog droppings in a forest in Szent Imre, Budapest on 5th November 1995.
